Quarter Finals 1B, Results [11/06]

This round of Quarter Finals, the girls were definitely the better singers. The guys were either normal or struggling to stand out with stage presence. During the results show, we saw Guohao, the comical 男佣 first to go thru', then its was Elaine, the sweet vocalist, later it was Zijie, the Diya & Carrie's supporter, and Huixian, the small little powerpuff girl [also the junior of CSS 1 Female Champ, Teresa].

On the stage were Teri, Amy and Jiajun. And it was Amy Chang, the Taiwanese babe being eliminated. Later on stage came, Wilson, Javin, and Benjamin. And it was Wilson, the Tank-alike but Wilber wannabe who got booted out.

The results weren't surprising to me. I thought that being a foreigner on local reality competition is never easy to get sufficient votes; unless you try pulling votes from your fellow-men in Singapore, like what Le Sheng did or you're really rich to dump money into telephone votes. I'm sure Amy is satisfied with the results and is contented to be able to join the top 20. She mentioned in her short farewell speech that she is glad to know the friends she acquainted during this competition and is happy to gain this memorable experience.

As for Wilson Thong, there's no doubt he is cute, or some say good looking. But his singing still needs lots of improvement, even one of the judges told him to rap more, instead of singing. He appeared to be disappointed after knowing the results, but I guess he saw it coming. The funny thing about this results show is that Amy & Wilson are rumoured to be an item, and they were eliminated together on the same day, is it fate, destiny or coincidence? kekez...

Quarter Finals 1B [11/06]

[-h2o-]
I couldn't catch what you sang in first 2-3 lines. Your singing was alright, not many technical, even though your voice isn't special. Maybe you need to brush up your handling of song, because I felt abit of inconsistancy. You were hunch-back, your facial and body language were weird on stage. Other than that, your performance was acceptable.

September
I feel that your hand gesture and stage presentation didn't match with this song. When you first came out, I thought is some 'ah-beng' walking out. I hope you can try a different genre of song. I dont think this song is suitable for you.

[-h2o-]
Your rendition of the song had JJ's feel, more like you were imitating him. If you can imitate JJ's vocal, I guess you have a good vocal. I hope you try singing other's song and put JJ's shadow aside. Another thing is that you were constantly short-breath. You need to create your style of singing and show more of your character on TV, in order to stay in the competition.

September
I don't like the way you ended the first few sentences. I dont know how to describe, but the way you ended were too harsh? But, I like the way you sang the chorus. However, it sounded so much like JJ Lin. Try to have your own style, ya? I love the way you switched from your real voice and the 鼻音.

[-h2o-]
You were trying your best to charm audience with your winks, blinks and smile. Good effort in creating stage presence. However, you were like trying imitating Wilber's style but couldn't make it. Your enunciation also has some problem because you tried to slang like Wilber. Your singing had no emotions and didn't display 'superstar' quality. Overall, I felt that your stage presence couldn't outshine your amateur singing.

September
So now, its a 模仿比赛? You sang just like how Wilber sang. You added abit of dancing while singing, which was commendable. Your high notes were weak, like the sentence "我早就深深着了迷". You should focus on your 转音.

[-h2o-]
100% for entertainment value! I don't think you were wrong doing those 'acting', because it showed that you understood the song well. Your expressions and movements were comical, and very 男佣! You caught the spirit of the song. Your voice wasn't special, but I saw and heard your effort, which made you special on stage. I hope you continue to put in good effort and confidence in your future performance, if you do advance to the next stage.

September
You were comical. Did you joined the wrong competition? If you are eliminated from this competition, i think you should join Star Search instead. One thing that made you different from the other contestants is the acting and expressions you made during the singing. It's good that you actually entertain us. But most importantly, you should focus on the SINGING, because your singing was 'okay' only.

[-h2o-]
Good emotions right from the start, BUT it faltered very fast. Having the song lowered a few keys didn't helped you perform better. You were having a lot of pitch problem and I didn't feel for your rendition, except for the initial start. If you feel the emotions from inside, release it! Your body language tells alot, you were like jerking left and right. It showed that you were unable to open and release the trapped emotions and power, with your singing and performance. Try to find more confidence and relax yourself. And also, choose a song that your vocal can handle, if you do advance.

September
Your rhythm was abit off. You moved alot like pendulum swinging left, right, left, right. 我看了很晕. Abit is still acceptable. Next time, focus more in the singing, ok? Overall, your singing was ok.

Quarter Finals 1B [11/06]

[-h2o-]
Nice vocal with a bit of bass. However, singing was stiff. Performance was plain and lack of climax. You've got to choose a better song in the next round. Your eye contact with camera needs improvement, but its a good effort.

September
Your singing was quite steady but expression-less. At times, you sounded shaky. You did not interact enough with the audience and camera.

[-h2o-]
"Oh my god!" This was what I felt when I heard you sang. You've got a great voice. You reminded me of Shawn Tok, small small size with great big voice! However, you need to take note of your 转音, it wasn't smooth enough, and you have too many 抖音 making your singing old.

September
Personally, I like this song. It's good that you have your own singing style, e.g ending each sentence differently. However it is not necessary for you to end the sentences the same, making it abit 'over' - a bit of "woo" is ok. Frankly, the more you woo, the more I was irritated.

[-h2o-]
You have a very nice clean voice. The emotions were good. Surprisingly, not many enunciation mistakes. But I thought you sounded like a Japanese singing Mandarin song. Your facial & body gestures were stiff. You looked lost, and was not confident with your movement on stage.

September
You should be more confident in yourself. Although you are not fluent in mandarin, but at least you should "act" and show that you are confident. You sounded alot like Rainie. I've nothing to say about your singing. But you should improve in your stage presentation. Sidetrack abit.. I thought the makeup was too over? it makes you look older leh. =x

[-h2o-]
At the first intro part, it sounded abit too over. I could hear you trebbling and sounded unstable. However, I could see and hear your efforts. The smile you constantly have, and the happy feel in your rendition. Another problem is that you need to try making your singing more accepted by audience.

September
It's very weird as some part you sounded "flat". Your 音准 wasn't fantastic. I love your smile, and the eye contact you gave.

[-h2o-]
Good rendition even though you sounded like Fish Leong. I like your voice, its very smoothing. You looked enjoy, and natural on stage. Good emotions, I could feel the happiness. However, you sounded abit rushy, need to control better, don't let the rhyhem take over you.

September
You were not tensed. You were enjoying your own performance, and i enjoyed it too. It makes the song very qing1 song1. I love the way you 诠释 the song, You made use of the stage, and interacted with the audience. But for your last note, you didnt end it well. Overall, i like your performance.
